First I looked at the Factor Map as a series of nested parabolas: .

That left me wondering, what about odd and even values within each odd and even parabola? Applying the following color scheme :

red: even factor of even number, paired with an odd factor
yellow: odd factors of an even number
blue: even factor of even number, paired with an even factor
white: odd factors of an odd number

This is a lot of information! I will next map the different colors to numbers so that we can better analyze the patterns. I will use the following notation:

red:       4     even factor of even number, paired with an odd factor
yellow:  3     odd factors of an even number
blue:     2     even factor of even number, paired with an even factor
white:   1     odd factors of an odd number

For example, the number 24 has the divisors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

For analysis it will be convenient to only consider the first half of the pattern, as the second half can be generated from the first half.
